WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: St. Leo pounds Bears as they open trip to Florida

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo welcomed Lenoir-Rhyne University’s women’s lacrosse team to Florida on Sunday, drilling the Bears 18-4 to stay undefeated.

LRU (3-3) got one goal each by Anna Bissell, Cathleen Gaffney, Michelle Tang and Alyssa Sack.

Sabrina Sancore sparked St. Leo (7-0) with five goals while Lexie Walstad had four and Janee DeLuca added three.

The Lions outpaced the Bears in shots (34-16), shots on goal (28-11), turnovers (13-22), ground balls (29-24), draw controls (13-11) and free-position shots (12-4).

LRU made 10 saves and St. Leo made seven.

Cristi Rowland had three saves for the Bears but allowed 12 goals, and Tenna Sieben had seven saves and gave up six goals while playing the second half.

LRU will remain in Florida and next plays Embry-Riddle on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
