HICKORY – Gabby Sousa scored five goals and Rachel Elmore added four on Monday as Lenoir-Rhyne University edged visiting North Greenville (S.C.) 16-12 in women’s lacrosse.

The victory evened the Bears’ record at 2-2 and left the Crusaders at 2-4.
LRU’s next match is at home Saturday at 3 p.m. against Virginia Wise.
The Bears withstood a late surge by North Greenville, which made a 7-5 run.
LRU led in draw controls (17-13), ground balls (21-12) and shots on goal (28-21).
Eight players scored for the Bears with Alyssa Sack adding two goals.
Rachel Kellog, Olivia Foltz and Hanna Hawkins each scored three goals for the Crusaders.
LRU’s Cristi Rowland made three saves and Teanna Sieben had six in the second half.
Sydney Taylor was in goal for North Greenville, posting 12 saves.
Sousa’s five goals were a season-high and Kaitlyn Lehman and Jackie Rosetti each scored their first goals of the season for the Bears.
