GAFFNEY, S.C. – Limestone scored the final 12 goals on Saturday to beat visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University 15-3 in women’s lacrosse.
Courtney Lafler had seven goals to lead the Saints (11-1) and Abby Hope scored three.
Limestone had an early 2-0 lead that the Bears (7-5) matched with goals by Michelle Tang and Rachel Elmore for a tie with 23 minutes, 13 seconds left in the opening half.
After Limestone reclaimed a lead, Elmore netted her second goal to draw LRU even at 3 with 17:19 to play in the first half.
From there, Limestone’s defense took over.
The Saints had a 34-13 advantage in shots and a 26-15 advantage in ground balls. Limestone grabbed 11 of the 20 draw controls and went 16-for-17 on clears.
Limestone is unbeaten (6-0) in Conference Carolinas and its only loss is to Tampa.
LRU’s next match is Saturday at 1 p.m., a South Atlantic Conference battle at Lincoln Memorial.
