WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: USC Aiken sends Lenoir-Rhyne to an 0-2 start

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s women will try to gain their first basketball win of the season on Thursday night after starting 0-2 in the Peach Belt/South Atlantic Conference Challenge in Jefferson, City, Tenn.

USC Aiken beat the Bears 86-69 on Saturday in the Challenge.

LRU (0-2) faces UNC Pembroke on the road on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Against USC Aiken, Madi Suddreth scored 25 points, Kendall Toinetta had 17 and LRU had six other players score.

Kwajelin Farrar’s 30 points and 18 by Kryie Chandler sparked the Pacers (1-1), who outscored the Bears 31-19 in the second quarter.

USC Aiken shot 50.8 percent to LRU’s 43.3, and the Pacers had 13 made 3-pointers.

Suddreth, who played high school basketball at Alexander Central, is averaging 21 points per game.

The Bears are off to a 0-2 start for the first time since 2014-15.
