WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Lenoir-Rhyne starts season at home Saturday

HICKORY — The Lenoir-Rhyne University women begin the basketball season on Saturday, battling USC-Aiken at 4:30 p.m. in Shuford Gym.

The Bears also play at home Sunday with a 1 p.m. tipoff against Lander.

LRU’s first South Atlantic Conference (SAC) game is Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. against Wingate.

Grahm Smith begins his second season as head coach at LRU after guiding the Bears to a 6-14 overall record last season and 6-12 in the SAC.

The Bears’ roster includes freshman guard Kaitlyn Propst of South Caldwell and two sophomores who played at Freedom, guards Josie Hise and Blaikely Crooks.
