WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Easter helps Anderson snap Lenoir-Rhyne’s 4-game win streak

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson (S.C.) snapped a four-game win streak by Lenoir-Rhyne University in women’s basketball on Saturday and remained unbeaten in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) games.

Anderson beat the visiting Bears 70-59 behind 13 points and seven rebounds by Alexy Mollenhauer, 11 points, five rebounds and three assists from former Bandys High star Ace Easter and 10 points and six rebounds by Erica Martin.

Easter, a senior guard, is averaging 18.1 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Trojans (8-2, 3-0).

Freshman Madeline Hardy had 21 points – 13 in the first half – to spark LRU (6-4, 2-2). Senior Kendall Toinetta added 17 points.

LRU shot 40.7 percent to Anderson’s 39.7, and the Bears lost on the road for the first time in four games this season.

The Bears’ next game is at home on Tuesday at 2 p.m. against Lees-McRae.
