WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Bears have lost 3 straight as Mars Hill comes in for Saturday game

The Lenoir-Rhyne University women will try to snap a three-game losing streak when they entertain Mars Hill on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) basketball game.

The Bears are 7-7 overall and 2-4 in the league after Wingate beat them 59-43 on Wednesday at Wingate.

Madi Suddreth was LRU’s only double figure scorer – she had 10 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists – as Wingate improved to 10-4, 5-2.

The Bears hit all 11 of their free throws but Wingate went 17-of-23 on free throws and opened a big lead by outscoring LRU 25-6 in the third quarter.

LRU has now held opponents to 60 or fewer points seven times this season.
