ROCK HILL, S.C. – Paul Lenz of Lenoir-Rhyne University won matches in singles and doubles last week that netted him an award Monday as the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Men’s Tennis Player of The Week.
Lenz, a sophomore from Ratingen, Germany, earned victories in both singles and doubles play last week in conference action against Wingate and Carson-Newman.
LRU defeated Carson-Newman 8-1 and Lenz teamed with junior Hamed Gandouz to garner both doubles’ wins including a triumph at the second spot against the 10th-ranked Bulldogs.
Lenz is 6-4 this season in singles (3-1 in the SAC) and 11-3, 3-1 in doubles.
LRU’s next match is Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the YMCA of Catawba Valley against league foe Newberry, S.C. (11-4, 2-2).
