HICKORY – The Bears are still unbeaten in women’s softball games at home this season.
Lenoir-Rhyne University swept visiting Mars Hill 6-5 and 10-1 on Sunday – on Senior Day at Bears Field — to run its win streak to 10 games and improve to 20-0 at home this season.
The Bears (36-5, 13-1), ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division II, still holds a four-game lead as the first-place team in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) heading into Tuesday’s league doubleheader against No. 22 Queens in Charlotte (3 p.m.)
Mars Hill dipped to 12-14 overall and 3-9 in the SAC.

Three Bears hit home runs — junior outfielder Erin Boone, freshman third baseman Talon LaClair and senior outfielder Christina Walker – as LRU rallied from a 4-2 deficit to win.
Walker’s home run in the bottom of the sixth inning – a two-run round-tripper – broke a 4-all tie and proved to be the game-winner.
Junior Brandi Parks improved to 17-3 after going the distance and earning a win.
For Mars Hill, Christiana Marasa drove in three runs and Ashley Evans hit a solo home run.
The Lions’ Casey Stanek took a loss, falling to 7-6.
LRU 10, Mars Hill 1
LRU scored eight runs over the first two innings to take control and run-rule Mars Hill.
Freshman outfielder Savannah Moorefield hit a two-run home run while Boone drove in three runs for the Bears, who had 13 hits.
LRU junior Emily Kenley improved to 18-2 after earning a victory.
Mars Hill’s Emily Burriss hit a solo home run while Cristi Pressley fell to 1-1 after taking a loss.
