MEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: Lenoir-Rhyne beats Coker, wins on road again

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University won on the road for the third straight time on Wednesday night, beating Coker 4-1 in a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match.

The Bears (5-3, 4-1) hadn’t beaten Coker (2-5, 0-3) since 2014.

Senior Ignacio de Goya scored twice for LRU and sophomore Victor Cascon and senior Josh Silent each added one goal.

The Bears outshot the Cobras 21-8, including 9-3 on goal.

Arturo Gomez had two assists for LRU, giving him three for the season.

Junior Alex Langer had two saves for the Bears.

Silent and de Goya (12 goals last season) each scored for the first time this season. Cascon has six goals this season and 10 during his LRU career.

LRU’s next match is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at home against Queens.
