The Bears, ranked No. 3, rallied to pick up their seventh straight win and improve to 11-1. Ninth-ranked Tampa fell to 9-3 at Daffin Park in Savannah, Ga.

Senior midfielder Ben Corrigan led the way for LRU with a game-high four goals – including the contest-winner with 11 seconds left in the third period – as the Bears took control by reeling off nine straight goals after falling behind 7-3 midway through the second period.

Three players – junior midfielder Anthony Fraga, junior attacker Joe Buduo and sophomore midfielder Eric Dickinson – each scored twice for the Bears.

Tampa’s leading scorer, Andrew Kew, was limited to two goals and the Bears’ defense held the Spartans scoreless for more than 30 minutes at one stretch.

In goal, LRU senior Ryan Crompton earned a victory after stopping 12 shots while B.J. Borowski suffered the loss for the Spartans despite 10 saves.

The Bears avenged an 11-8 setback to Tampa in the 2017 NCAA Division II quarterfinals at Moretz Stadium.

LRU is now 34-4 over its last 38 matches, dating back to the start of the 2016 season.

The Bears are 4-0 this season against teams ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 10 when the match was played.

LRU is at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. for its next match, a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) battle with Lincoln Memorial.
