Bears face Wingate next to open South Atlantic Conference schedule

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men put a 24-match win streak in conference lacrosse on the line Saturday when Wingate visits for a 1 p.m. match.

The Bears are off to an 0-4 start after falling 12-10 on Saturday at home in a non-league battle with Florida Tech in Savannah, Ga.

Bowen Collins, Joe Buduo and Eric Dickinson each scored twice for LRU and Buduo had two assists in the loss in Georgia.

Florida Tech scored three times with a man advantage, all of them coming in the final 17 minutes, 42 seconds.

The Bears were down 7-5 at halftime before scoring three straight goals to lead. Edward Tate, Buduo and Collins had those goals.

The match was tied at 10 when the Panthers scored twice in a span of 31 seconds to win.

Daniel Flock led Florida Tech, making 23 saves. Noah Johnson had 16 saves for LRU.

Florida Tech led shots (54-48), ground balls (40-35) ad won 14 of 25 face offs.
