MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: LRU has won 4 straight as Saturday regular-season finale approaches

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University will close its regular season in men’s lacrosse on Saturday, facing Coker on the road.

The Bears (6-7, 3-2 South Atlantic Conference) have won four straight matches after downing visiting Mars Hill 19-1 on Saturday at LRU.

LRU has scored at least 17 goals in each match of its current win streak.

The Bears scored the first 14 goals against Mars Hill (3-11, 0-7), keeping the Lions scoreless for nearly 29 minutes.

LRU’s Joe Buduo cleared 200 career points, finishing with one goal and one assist on Saturday.

Ryan Bell led LRU with five goals and two assists, scoring on just six shots and he added five ground balls and caused a turnover.

Anthony Fraga added three goals for the Bears while Noah Johnson provided eight saves to earn his sixth win of the season.

LRU has outscored opponents 70-14 in its four-match win streak.

The Bears honored their nine seniors prior to the start of Saturday’s match. They’ve led LRU to 47 wins and a streak of 24 straight over conference foes.
