MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Buduo scores 4 goals as Bears roll in season-opener

HICKORY –Joe Buduo scored four goals on Saturday, sparking seventh-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University’s 18-7 victory over Young Harris that opened the Bears’ men’s lacrosse season.

Buduo, a junior attacker, led all scorers. LRU also got two goals and two assists each from freshman attacker Myles Moffat and senior midfielder Ben Corrigan.

LRU went up 7-1 by the eight-minute, 37 seconds mark of the second period, and the Bears finished with a 51-22 edge in shots taken and a 26-17 advantage in ground balls.

Bruce Silk and Matty Ledon each scored twice for Young Harris.

LRU senior goalkeeper Ryan Crompton had four saves in the opening half, while Sean Dever was in goal for Young Harris and mad 12 stops.

The Bears have played Young Harris three times and won each match.

Next up for LRU is a Saturday match at noon in Gaffney, S.C., against top-ranked and defending national champion Limestone.
