MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Bears roll as Buduo scores 6, becomes all-time leading scorer

PHILIPPI, W. Va. – Joe Buduo scored six goals, becoming the all-time scoring leader in men’s lacrosse at Lenoir-Rhyne University, as the Bears rolled to a 17-3 victory on Sunday over Alderson Broaddus on the road.

LRU (3-7) jumped to a 10-0 lead.

Buduo, a senior from Shrewsbury, Mass., now has 126 career goals for LRU, which next plays on Saturday at Lincoln Memorial (4 p.m.), and he surpassed a record held by Ned Kaish (124).

Freshman Mason Pierrotti scored a career-best four goals and added an assist and Quinn Kuhn, Ben Austin and Eric Dickinson each had two assists for LRU.

The Bear dominated the stats with a 49-25 edge in shots, 35-30 lead in ground balls and by winning 14-of-23 face offs. LRU forced 30 turnovers.

Noah Johnson earned his third win of the season after making five saves for the Bears, all in the first half. Noah Lalli had four stops playing goal in the second half for LRU.

Dickinson scored once and is four goals behind Buduo on the all-time goal list at 122.

Mercyhurst 19, LRU 11 (Saturday)

Devin Pipher and Nathan Grenon each had four goals, leading Mercyhurst (7-2) past the Bears at Alderson Broaddus.

Dickinson scored four goals for the Bears while Buduo and Anthony Fraga each added two and Mitchell Linklater and Edward Tate each provided two assists.

Johnson made 10 saves in goal and also forced two turnovers and had three ground balls.
