A senior from Fredrick, Md., he graduated last month with a bachelor’s degree in sports management with a grade point average of 3.55, LRU officials announced in a press release.

Crompton, a three-year starter for the Bears (2016-18), was named to first-team All-SAC after finishing with a 9.69 goals-against average and 216 saves this year.  He also won 16 of 19 decisions this spring, and is the Bears’ all-time leader in saves with 516.

Crompton led LRU to its best season in school history as the Bears went 17-3 overall – 8-0 in the SAC – and won the league regular season championship. LRU also advanced to the NCAA Division II semifinals and was ranked as high as No. 3 in NCAA Division II during the season.

During his four years at LRU, the Bears went 50-17 overall, captured three conference regular season titles, a league tournament championship and earned two NCAA Division II postseason berths.

“Ryan is the embodiment of the term ‘student-athlete’,” LRU head men’s lacrosse coach Greg Paradine said in the press release. “From the time he stepped on campus, he has been actively engaged in his academics, athletes and community service projects.”

The SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the league’s championship sports and is voted on by the SAC’s Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee.  The winners are selected based on their achievements in academics, athletics, service and leadership.
