ROCK HILL, S.C. – A 12-save match against Tampa gained Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Ryan Compton the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Defensive Player of The Week in men’s lacrosse for the fourth time this season.

Crompton, a senior goalkeeper from Fredrick, Md., had those dozen saves in a 12-9 victory over Tampa last weekend.

He has won the SAC’s top defensive weekly award 10 times in his college career.

Tampa, ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II, faced LRU last weekend in Savannah, Ga., in a rematch of last season’s win by Tampa in the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.

Crompton is the Bears’ all-time leader in saves with 433 and ranks first in the conference this year in save percentage (58.8).  He is a preseason all-league honoree who also has 9.58 goals-against average with 133 stops this spring.

LRU (11-1, 4-0), ranked No. 3, next plays on Saturday at 1 p.m., facing Lincoln Memorial at Moretz Stadium in a conference match.

The Bears’ regular-season league win streak is 20, and LRU is on a seven-match win streak.
