MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Bears’ 4-0 start best in history of program

HICKORY – Sophomore midfielder Eric Dickinson scored a match-best four goals and freshman attacker Myles Moffat added two goals and two assists on Monday as Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men downed Molloy in lacrosse 11-6.

The Bears (4-0) won for the second time in three days, and they are ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II after winning at home again.

LRU was up 8-1 midway through the second period.

The Bears had edges in shots (37-29) and ground balls (21-14) as senior goalkeeper Ryan Crompton earned a win after playing the first half and making seven saves.

Molloy was led by Nick Del Giorno and Kevin Pastier with two goals each. The Lions’ Ryan Toomey made 14 saves.

The Bears are off to the best start in the program’s eight-year history.

Dickinson, Moffat and junior attacker Joe Buduo share the team leading in scoring with 11 goals each.

LRU’s next match comes Saturday at noon in Moretz Stadium with No. 14 Colorado Mesa visiting.
