COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD: Both Lenoir-Rhyne teams finish third at conference indoor championships

WINSTON-SALEM – Lenoir-Rhyne University posted third-place finishes on Monday, men and women, in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships.

In competition at the JDL Fast Track, the Bears’ women had 98 ½ points, finishing behind Queens (189) and Wingate (134).

LRU’s men had 102.833 points to place behind Queens (148) and Wingate (119.83).

Women

LRU junior Paiton Fair of Newton won the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 58.89 seconds and was part of the Bears’ league-winning 1,600-meter relay (freshmen Saidah Hardwick and Savannah Watkins and senior Keyua McElveen).

Sophomore Autumn Drayton was second in the shot put (41-0), which established a new school record.

Men

Sophomore P.J. Lotharp won the men’s 200-meter dash (21.80) while the men’s distance medley relay – sophomores Marquez Gray, Daniel Kachenchai and Jacob Black and freshman Petar Ivackovic – won in 10:34.28 (a new school record).

LRU was also helped by three of second-place finishes: senior Myles Braswell-Sample in the shot put (51-1), junior Cole Henderson in the weight throw (a school-record 53-4) and the 1,600-meter relay (a program-best 3.23.33).
