Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men will go for their 10th conference win Saturday on the road, facing Tusculum at 4 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) basketball game.

The Bears (16-7, 9-6) will try to rebound from an 87-79 home loss on Wednesday night, when the Bulldogs won despite LRU getting 50 points from Djibril Diallo and Cory Thomas.

LRU got within three points late in the game against Wingate before the Bulldogs hung on to improve 14-10 overall and 10-6 in the SAC.

The Bears are in fifth place in the conference race, a half-game back of Wingate, with Queens (15-1) leading and Catawba and Lincoln Memorial (both 11-4) sharing second place.

LRU is two games ahead of sixth-place Tusculum (11-12, 7-8).

Diallo and Thomas each scored 25 points in the loss to Wingate and Darius Simmons added 14 points.

Wingate won without getting any points from its non-starters.

LRU shot 29.4 percent on 3-pointers while the Bulldogs were 46.4 percent from long range.

Jakob Dawkins led Wingate with 21 points and Emarius Logan scored 20.

The victory gave the Bulldogs a split with the Bears, who won 67-64 at Wingate on Jan. 9.
