ROCK HILL, S.C. – All three weekly award winners in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) football, as selected by conference officials, are from Lenoir-Rhyne University.

The Bears beat Limestone 63-17 at home on Saturday to continue atop the conference standings, and Bradley Jones, Sherrod Williams and Jaquay Mitchell won league awards.

MITCHELL

Jones, a junior running back from Virginia Beach, Va., won the league’s Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 109 yards on 10 carries and scoring two times.

WILLIAMS

Williams, a junior from Edison, Ga., won Defensive Player of the Week. He had 13 tackles – six of them solos – and had a sack and forced a fumble. He played only three quarters, and the Bears limited Limestone to 93 rushing yards.

Mitchell, a junior from Bailey, won the Special Teams award. He broke a handful of tackles and scampered 63 yards for a TD on his first college punt return. Mitchell also had a 23-yard kickoff return, ran twice for 50 yards and finished with 136 all-purpose yards.

LRU, 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the SAC, has a non-league game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fort Valley (Ga.) State.

The Bears play two of their final three games at home, with UNC Pembroke visiting on Oct. 27 and Catawba coming to town on Nov. 10 for Senior Day. In between those two games is a key SAC game at Carson-Newman on Nov. 3.
