ROCK HILL, S.C. – After two seasons of not qualifying for the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) tournament in baseball, Lenoir-Rhyne University is back in this season as a No. 5 seed.
The Bears (27-21, 13-14) open the tournament on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., facing No. 8 Anderson (S.C.) at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tenn.
LRU tied Newberry and Tusculum for fifth place in the regular season.
LRU won two of three games against Anderson (22-26, 12-15) this season in late February.
There are two games on Thursday, both single elimination, and the tournament then shifts to double-elimination from Friday through Monday, with all games at Smokies Stadium.
