SALISBURY – Sophomore John Grigg threw a complete game shutout and juniors Justin Dean and Aaron Stamper each homered on Saturday, leading Lenoir-Rhyne University to a split with host Catawba in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) baseball.

The Bears won that second game 5-0 after the Indians won the opening game 6-5, and that nightcap victory gave LRU its first win of a weekend series over Catawba since 2002.

LRU (15-7, 4-2) also beat the Indians (8-11, 4-2) at Newman Park on Friday night.

The Bears are idle until Friday, when Newberry, S.C., comes to Hickory for the first game of a weekend series. That game begins at 6 p.m. at Bears Field.
