ROCK HILL, S.C. – John Grigg of Lenoir-Rhyne University has been selected as the top pitcher in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) for last week.
Grigg, a sophomore from Lawndale, earned the league award via a five-hit shutout last Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader at Catawba, a game the Bears won 5-0.
He struck out five to improve to 3-0 with an ERA of 2.49, and he has 28 strikeouts.
LRU beat the Indians to win a league series, two games to one, over Catawba for the first time since 2002.
The Bears (15-7, 4-2) next play on Friday, facing Newberry, S.C., at 6 p.m. at Bears Field to start a weekend SAC series.
