WINGATE – Wingate University maintained second place in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) women’s volleyball on Thursday night, downing visiting Lenoir-Rhyne 3-0.
The Bulldogs won 25-10, 25-11, 25-18 to improve to 21-2 overall and 15-2 in the conference. The Bears are 10-12, 6-10.
Wingate is No. 24 in the NCAA Division II rankings.
Katie Bludau and Rachel Cecka each had 10 kills to lead a victory over LRU, with Rachel Alles adding 41 assists for Wingate.
Brooke Redmond led the Bears with six kills and five assists and Emily Greene added four hits for LRU, which hit just .097 and had seven service errors.
LRU plays at Queens in a SAC match at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
