WOMEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: Queens shuts out Lenoir-Rhyne

CHARLOTTE – Queens University defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University 2-0 on Saturday in women’s soccer, leaving the visiting Bears under .500 after four South Atlantic Conference (SAC) matches this season.

Elizabeth Phan scored a first-half goal at the 40:47 mark on an assist by Alyssa Bosak to put Queens (5-2-1, 3-2) up 1-0.

In the second half, Emma Stockton scored her first goal of the season, on an assist by Alana Jefferson at the 79:22 mark, as Queens increased its lead to 2-0.

Queens outshot LRU (5-3-1, 1-2-1) by three (11-8).

The Bears’ Alayna Morris had six saves and Rachel Quest had two for Queens.

LRU’s next match is at home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against SAC rival Mars Hill.
