WOMEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: Lenoir-Rhyne nips Saint Leo 1-0 in Florida

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s women will go for their third victory of the season on Sunday with a match against Tampa (Fla.) on the road at 1 p.m.

The Bears won for the second time in three matches this season on Saturday, starting their Florida trip with a 1-0 victory over Saint Leo.

LRU broke a scoreless tie after 54 minutes with the only goal of the match, by Stephanie Figueiredo, a sophomore from Wilmington, Mass. It was her first of the season and her second career match-winning goal.

St. Leo was limited to one first-half shot and three overall, also picking up 16 fouls and receiving three yellow cards and one red card in the match.

LRU outshot St. Leo 9-6.

The Bears also defeated St. Leo by a goal, 2-1, a year ago.
