INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University men’s soccer team is headed back to the NCAA Division II playoffs.

The Bears (10-3-3) earned the No. 5 seed from the Southeast Regional when the national field was revealed on Monday, and they’ll face No. 4 Young Harris (11-3-2) in a first-round match Thursday at 7 p.m. in Gaffney, S.C.

Thursday’s winner advances to face host Limestone (15-2-2), a top seed, in the second round on Saturday at 7 p.m.

LRU, making its second straight NCAA postseason and third in school history, will face Young Harris for the first time.

The Bears have played Limestone this season, on Sept. 9, and LRU won 1-0 in double overtime in Hickory.

Young Harris is in the national tournament for the third time in four seasons.

The other half of the Southeast Regional brackets includes second-seeded and defending national champion Wingate (14-4-1), third-seeded Lander, S.C. (12-3-2) and sixth-seeded Lincoln Memorial (10-4-3) in matches to be played at Wingate.

Two to six teams were selected from each of the eight regions around the nation. Teams from the same region will be paired for first and/or second round contests. Those matches can begin on Thursday and must be completed by Sunday.

Third round and quarterfinal matches will be at campus sites and must be completed by Nov. 19.

The national semifinals and finals are scheduled Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 at Children’s Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.
