BALTIMORE – The Orioles haven’t yet called on former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey to pitch.
Harvey — called up to the majors about seven hours before the first pitch at Camden Yards on Monday night — made the short drive to Baltimore from Bowie (Md.) but did not pitch in a x-x loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.
On Tuesday night, Toronto’s xxx had a no-hitter until the xxx inning – eventually winning 2-1 – and Harvey, a right-hander who is slated to pitch long relief, did not get in.
The Blue Jays and Orioles close an American League series on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Baltimore and the Orioles are off on Thursday before starting a series at Boston.
Harvey, 23, is the son of Bryan Harvey, also a former Bandys High pitching star. The elder Harvey pitched nearly 10 seasons in the major leagues – making the All-Star game once in both leagues – and retired with 177 career saves.
Bryan Harvey was 23 when he debuted in the major leagues for the then-California Angels against the Baltimore Orioles (see our Blast From The Past post), and his son got to The Show at a younger age that his dad by 227 days.
