HICKORY – Taylor Prall’s double-double sparked Lenoir-Rhyne University on Tuesday night as it swept visiting Newberry (S.C.) to remain unbeaten in volleyball.
The Bears won 25-7, 25-21, 25-13 to improve to 5-0 and win their South Atlantic Conference (SAC) opener.
Prall, a sophomore outside hitter from Tipp City, Ohio, had 12 kills and 13 digs while Jaclyn Denny (junior from North Wilkesboro) provided seven kills and had a .778 hitting percentage for the Bears.
Zoe Dinkins and Toni-Anne Whitlow each had six kills for Newberry (3-2, 0-1).
LRU is off to its best start since a 10-match win streak to open the 2009 season.
The Bears will play this weekend at the Francis Marion Invitational, facing UNC Pembroke on Friday at 4 p.m.
