HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University has announced a partnership with the YMCA of Catawba County that will allow the Bears’ home tennis matches to be played at the Hickory Foundation YMCA.
“Having the expertise of Lenoir-Rhyne’s tennis program on our YMCA campus makes our YMCA stronger, and enables us to serve more people,” YMCA of Catawba Valley President and CEO Nat Auten said in a press release via LRU’s athletic department. “We are delighted to embark on this transformational relationship that will positively impact our community.”
LRU athletic director Kim Pate said the move is a good one for the Bears’ tennis program.
“We are excited to announce this new partnership with the YMCA, and for the chance to train and compete in their top-notch facilities as the new home of (LRU) tennis,” she said in the press release. “This partnership not only enhances the student-athlete experience, but it also fosters connections between our student-athletes and local youth. It is a win for everyone.”
