PERRY, N.Y. – Two of Lenoir-Rhyne University’s top players in men’s lacrosse have won NCAA Division All-American status in teams selected the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
Selections for the teams came on Wednesday, and the Bears’ Collin Lett was picked second-team and teammate Mike Hanlon garnered third-team honors.
Lett, a junior long pole midfielder from Greensboro, was a first-team All-South Atlantic Conference (SAC) pick in April. He had five goals, four assists and nine points and 60 ground balls this season. He also scored twice in the Bears’ first NCAA Division II playoff appearance against Tampa on May 13.
Hanlon, a senior attacker from Haymarket, Va., leaves LRU as the school’s all-time leading scorer at 194 points. He was named the SAC Player of the Year this season after finishing second in the conference in assists (33) and total points (67) to go along with 34 goals and 32 ground balls.
On Friday, Hanlon will play in the NCAA Division I and II North/South game at Anderson Stadium on the campus of Providence (R.I.) College in Providence. The match begins at 5:30 p.m.
Lett and Hanlon are the first two All-Americans from LRU.
The Bears finished 12-3 this season and won all eight of their SAC matches to win a regular-season title for the second straight year.
