COLLEGE INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: Lotharp leads LRU athletes headed to championships in Kansas

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University junior P.J. Lotharp is headed to the NCAA Division II men’s indoor track and field championships this week in Pittsburg, Kan.

Lotharp will participate in the 1,600 relay, the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the championships on Thursday and Friday.

He is top-ranked in the Southeast Regional in the 60-meter (6.73) and the 200-meter (21.36).

Also Kansas-bound for the Bears is Devine Drummond in the distance medley and 1,600 relay and Chandelor Stamp, also in those two events.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) selected 20 LRU athletes for its All-Region honors.

Other Bears on All-Region includes Josh Adkins, Lucas Besong, Anthony Brown, Demarius Hampton, Cole Henderson, Petar Ivackovic, Daniel Nicholson and Chris Reichenbachboth.

LRU’s female All-Region picks are Autumn Drayton (weight throw and shot put), Paiton Fair (800-meters, 1,600 relay) and Saidah Hardwick (1,600 relay and 400-meter dash). Additional selections include Savannah Drummonds, Destiny Gayton, Savannah Watkins, Taylor Meadows and Tyra Poole.
