HUNTERSVILLE – Lake Norman Charter High will have a new head football coach next season but he’s a familiar face within the Knights’ athletic program.

Bob McKay, the school’s first head football coach, is returning to guide the Knights.

Mark Steele, the head coach at Lake Norman Charter for the last five seasons, will remain on the football staff as an assistant coach.

There have been two head-coaching changes in the South Fork 2A – the league Lake Norman Charter plays in – since the season ended.

Lincolnton Ledford Gibson resigned, and the Wolves are in the market for a new head coach.

The moves at Lincolnton and Lake Norman Charter mean five of the South Fork 2A’s eight schools have changed head football coaches in the past two years.

Last season, there were three new head coaches in the conference – Tom Eanes at Bandys, Nick Bazzle at North Lincoln and Steven Pack at Newton-Conover.
