U.S. OPEN: Poston struggling in first round with 4 bogeys, a double bogey

POSTON

ERIN, Wisc. – Former Hickory High golfer J.T. Poston is through the first 10 holes at the U.S. Open’s first round and has had a rough start.

Poston, a PGA Tour rookie, had three bogeys in the first six holes, another on No. 8 and a double bogey on No. 9 to shoot a 6-over par 42 on the front nine at Erin Hill.

Teeing off shortly after 8 a.m. EST, he had a bogey (a 6) on the opening hole. After scoring a par at No. 2, had a bogey (a 5) on the third hole.

At the fourth hole, Poston posted a par but he had a bogey at No. 6. He shot par on No. 7, then struggled at No. 8 and No. 9 before scoring par at No. 10 to begin the back half of the round.

The U.S. Open has four rounds and they will be played Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
