ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey is on the move in his rehab assignment as he works his way back to the major leagues.

Harvey, a right-handed relief pitcher in his first season with the Washington Nationals, started his rehab at the Florida Complex League Nationals, a rookie league team.

He got into one game as a starter and got two outs before the game was halted after six minutes because of severe weather. That’s the only appearance Harvey made in Florida.

On Wednesday, the Nationals assigned Harvey to Triple A Rochester (N.Y), and he pitched in that night’s game.

In a 4-0 victory at Lehigh Valley (Pa.), Harvey pitched one inning, allowing two hits and striking out one before a crowd 6,272. He threw strikes on 12 of his 16 pitches and faced five batters.

On Friday night, Harvey got his first hold after going two-thirds of an inning. He was the third of five pitchers the Red Wings used, walking two and striking out one (four batters, nine strikes on 19 pitches).

Lehigh Valley won 6-5 before a home crowd of 8,411 and dropped Rochesternto 43-39.

The series continues Saturday and Sunday at Lehigh Valley. The Red Wings are off Monday and then start a six-game homestand against Omaha  (Neb.) on Tuesday.

The Nationals have not indicated a timeline for Harvey’s return to Washington. They are at Atlanta on Saturday and Sunday, off on Monday, at home against Seattle on Tuesday and Wednesday and at home against the Braves on Thursday through Sunday.

Harvey started the season with a few days at Rochester  and was then called up and pitched in four games for the Nationals before going on the 10-day disabled list with a forearm strain on April 21. He was moved to the 60-day disabled list (tricep strain) before being sent to Florida to begin rehab

A 2013  first-round draft pick by the Baltimore Orioles, Harvey joined the Nationals when they  claimed him off waivers from the San Francisco Giants, who picked him up off waivers from the Orioles (he was in spring training with the Giants but did not pitch).
