BALTIMORE — Former Bandys High pitching star Hunter Harvey ended a rehab assignment with the Norfolk (Va.) Tides and was recalled to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
Harvey pitched one inning in the Orioles’ 3-1 home victory over the Cleveland Indians. He threw strikes on 10 of his 12 pitches and faced five batters before a crowd of 12,009, allowing two hits, one run (earned) and striking out one.
It was Harvey’s first appearance of the season and his 18th as a big-leaguer (1-2, 3.38 ERA in 16 innings pitched with six walks and 18 strikeouts).
He has been working his way back from being on the 60-day disabled list with an oblique injury.
Harvey’s dad, Bryan, has been in Baltimore this week awaiting his son’s return to the major leagues.
Bryan Harvey was a star relief pitcher for nearly 10 years in the major leagues with the then-California Angels and then-Florida Marlins. He turned 58 this week.
