GREENSBORO – Five St. Stephens High wrestlers – including unbeaten Salvador Gilvaja at 195 pounds – won first round matches Thursday at the 
opening day of the state 3A individual wrestling tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Indians have 14 points and are in sixth place in the team standings, where Cape Fear leads, and Freedom is in 10th with 10 points.
All told, 11 wrestlers from the Northwestern 3A-4A won their first matches in a three-day tournament that continues through Saturday.
Gilvaja defeated Matthew Catania of Mount Tabor 11-5 in his first-round match.
