HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: Foard’s Foor chases fourth consecutive state title

Championships are set for Saturday using a

single-elimination format at 3 high schools

CHAPEL HILL – The state individual wrestling championships are scheduled Saturday at three high school gyms.

The 1A and 4A championships will be at Winston-Salem Glenn, the 2A wrestlers go to Wheatmore and the 3A championships are set for Eastern Guilford.

Weigh-ins for 2A, 3A and 4A wrestlers begin at 8 a.m. and wrestling begins an hour later. The 1A weigh-ins are at 9:30 a.m. and the first matches are at 11 a.m.

Each location will use four mats, two in a main gym and two in auxiliary gyms.

TrackWrestling.com will provide up to the minute brackets and mat assignments throughout the tournament.

No general public tickets are available. Participating schools have been provided four ticket purchase codes per qualified wrestler.

The tournaments are single-elimination format with no consolation rounds.

Foard’s Forr chases fourth straight title

A local highlight of the 2A tournament will be Fred T. Foard’s Landon Foor, wresting at 182 pounds, pursuing his fourth consecutive state title.

Foor is listed as 51-0 this season by TrackWrestling.com, which gives him an unofficial career record of 202-2.
