NEWTON — The next round of the state dual-team wrestling tournament scheduled on Thursday at Fred T. Foard has been postponed by heavy rains.
Athletic officials at Foard have reset the third-round matches in the 2A bracket until Friday at 2 p.m.
Defending state 2A champion Central Academy meets Foard and Canton Pisgah faces Surry Central in the third round matches. The winners meet in the West 2A final with that winner advancing to the state championship match on Saturday in Greensboro.
There are third-round matches on Thursday also scheduled at St. Stephens, which has not yet indicated if the schedule will change.
The Catawba County Schools are releasing students at 12:15 p.m. because of the inclement weather.
