The opening round of the state high school girls’ volleyball playoffs on Tuesday night will include five home matches for area teams, highlighted by Northwestern Foothills 2A foes Draughn and Fred T. Foard battling at Foard.

The South Fork 2A, Northwestern Foothills 2A and Northwestern 3A-4A each advanced five teams to the postseason.

Foard has the highest seed among area teams at No. 1 2A in the West.

South Fork 2A

Regular-season champion East Lincoln is the No. 3 West seed and opens at home against No. 30 Canton Pisgah.

Maiden — the regular-season runner-up and league tournament champ — is seeded No. 11 and opens at home against No. 22 Smoky Mountain on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Lake Norman Charter, seeded No. 21, goes to No. 12 South Rowan while Bandys, seeded No. 28, travels to No. 5 Forbush, and 24th-seeded North Lincoln starts at ninth-seeded Black Mountain Owen.

Northwestern Foothills 2A

Foard — the regular-season and conference tournament champion — plays Draughn, a No. 32 seed, at Foard at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Foard beat Draughn twice in the regular season, 3-0 at Foard and 3-0 at Draughn.

East Burke, seeded No. 20, plays at No. 13 West Stanly, No. 14 West Iredell is at home against No. 19 Franklin and No. 23 Bunker Hill goes to No. 10 East Henderson.

Northwestern 3A-4A

Watauga, Hickory, St. Stephens and Alexander Central made the 3A bracket and South Caldwell earned the league’s 4A bid.

Watauga is seeded No. 4 and begins play Tuesday at home against No. 19 Cramer.

Hickory, second in the regular season, is a No. 11 seed and at home Tuesday against No. 22 Weddington.

St. Stephens, seeded No. 27, goes to No. 6 Cox Mill, and No. 31 Alexander Central goes to No. 2 West Henderson.

South Caldwell is seeded No. 24 and plays first at No. 9 Lake Norman.
