Senior Charlie Gessner, who led Patton High to a third place finish in Northwestern Foothills 2A boys’ tennis, has been named the league’s top player.
The Panthers went 5-2 in league play, finishing behind conference champion Fred T. Foard (7-0) and Hibriten (7-1).
Foard’s head coach, Ryan Gettys, was selected Coach of the Year by his peers.
The Tigers won four of their seven league matches 9-0.
Gessner won the conference singles title with a victory over Jacob Norwood of Hibriten. He was a regional qualifier along with Norwood, Evan VanHorne of Hibriten and Thomas Wentz of East Burke.
In league doubles, Luke Fountain and Graham Wright of Foard won a conference title over J.T. Spears and Nathaniel Wright of Hibriten. Both teams qualified for the regionals, as did Corey Powell and Ryan Williams of Draughn and Braxton Mull and Ransom Vance of Patton.
