HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TENNIS: Hickory’s Wimbush wins league’s 3A singles title

TAYLORSVILLE – Desytne Wimbush of Hickory and the Watauga doubles team of Jadyn Kadyk and Briana Davidson won 3A girls’ tennis titles Wednesday in the Northwestern 3A-4A by defeating teammates.

Wimbush won the singles title 7-5, 6-4 over Red Tornadoes teammate Dawson Clifford after each had eliminated a Watauga player in the semifinals at Alexander Central High.

The Pioneers’ Jadyn Kadyk and Brianna Davidson won doubles 6-0, 6-1 over teammates Katie Macknight and Carolina Davidson. Each of those Watauga teams advanced with wins over teams from Hickory and Alexander Central, respectively\
