HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING: Lincoln Charter girls, boys make splash in 1A-2A championships

CARY – Lincoln Charter had an impact on the state 1A-2A high school swimming championships on Thursday.

The Eagles’ girls finished with 220 points and finished second to Carrboro (231) while the boys’ team ended up third (184) behind Pine Lake Prep (238) and Raleigh Charter (196).

Lake Norman Charter’s boys placed 10th with 96 points and had a state champion in the 200 freestyle with Harrison Powe winning in one minute, 40.96 seconds.

Lincoln Charter’s girls were paced by a first-place finish by Chloe Harris in the 100 backstroke.

Valeria Hernandez-Pena posted two top 10 finishes for Newton-Conover, taking fifth in the 200 freestyle and sixth in the 100 freestyle.
