Lake Norman Charter High opened the conference tournament with a victory over Community School of Davidson on Monday in boys’ lacrosse.
The Knights won 20-4 in a first-round match of the Conference 13 tournament behind six goals from Micah Stechmiller and four each by Brandon Webster and Owen Thomas.
Lake Norman Charter (11-4) advances to the second round on Wednesday, facing Hough.

Games cancelled
Monday’s rainy weather forced cancellation of two non-league games, West Iredell at Bandys and Lincolnton at Bunker Hill.
Officials from Bandys and Bunker Hill said the games will not be rescheduled.
North Davidson 3, Alexander Central 1 (Saturday)
North Davidson scored all of its runs in the third inning and won despite being outhit 4-2 by the visiting Cougars in a non-conference game.
Josh Jacobs, Jacob Bebber, Dawson Elder and Nate Moretz each had a hit for the Cougars (16-6).
Nick Tiller and Maddox Johnson had hits for North Davidson with Johnson driving in a run and Jake Brown posting an RBI.
Jacobs had Alexander Central’s only RBI.
The Cougars scored their run in the top of the first inning.
Jonathan Conway went four innings to pick up a win for North Davidson. He allowed one hit, one run (unearned), walked one and struck out two.
Bryson Hammer (4-2) took the loss for Alexander Central, going 4 1/3 innings. He gave up two hits, three runs (all earned), walked five and struck out seven.
Alexander Central, headed to the state 3A playoffs as the No. 1 3A seed from the Northwestern 3A-4A, has a conference game on Tuesday against McDowell (6 p.m.) in Marion.

South Fork 2A tournament delayed
The South Fork 2A tournament, scheduled to begin Monday at Maiden, was delayed by rain.
Conference officials said they will make a decision at about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday about if the tournament can begin or if its start will be delayed until Wednesday.
