T.J. Rasar and Mac Beam each hit a home run and drove in four runs on Wednesday as Bandys High’s red-hot baseball start continued.

The Trojans, playing at home, pounded Lincoln Charter 10-0 in five innings to reach a 5-0 record for the first time since 2007.

A win on Thursday by Bandys would give the Trojans their first 6-0 start since 2005 when they began the season 13-0 under head coach Doug McRee in a 19-4 season.

Bandys is 2-0 in the South Fork 2A, sharing second place with Lincolnton (4-0, 2-0), as it heads to Lincolnton on Thursday night for a makeup game. After beating East Lincoln 7-2 on Wednesday, North Lincoln is 3-0 and leads the conference race.

On Wednesday, Beam had three hits and Rasar’s two included a three-run homer for the Trojans, who opened a 5-0 lead with a five-run bottom of the third inning then added three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth.

Bandys finished with 10 hits, also getting RBIs from Elijah Carr and Ivan Huffman, and Zach Horton led Lincoln Charter with two doubles.

Alex Reavis started for Bandys, going 2 1/3 innings and giving up four hits. Reliever Laz Maxwell picked up a win after throwing 2 2/3 innings, giving up two hits and striking out five.

Ryan Restino took the loss for Lincoln Charter (3-1).

Bandys last started 5-0 in baseball under Chris (Chopper) Fulbright in 2007, beating South Iredell, West Iredell, Statesville, West Iredell and West Caldwell in order before falling 4-1 to Fred T. Foard.

After the loss to Foard, the Trojans won four games in a row for a 9-1 start. That team lost back-to-back games only once all season and finished 17-7 after taking fourth (behind St. Stephens, Hickory and Fred T. Foard) in the Catawba Valley Athletic 2A-3A.

The Trojans’ current win streak of five is their longest since 2011, when they reeled off seven consecutive victories in a 13-10 season.

Postponements

Games moved to Thursday by wet grounds and weather included Lake Norman Charter at Maiden in the South Fork 2A, Bunker Hill at Hibriten in the Northwestern Foothills 2A and Newton-Conover at Hickory in a non-conference game.
