Nice read by former colleague Langston Wertz Jr. on whether or not an NCAA decision to allow student-athletes to earn money from use of their image and social media might/should/will trickle down to the high school level.

It’s an interesting — and tough — question.

Is the day coming that a local football star will insist he be paid if his picture if used from Friday night’s game by the local newspaper and media?

If that happens, things would change dramatically in the traditional coverage of high school sports because it’s doubtful some media could afford that, and there is the chance that all media would simply reduce or end coverage of high school athletics.
