RALEIGH — A new executive order issued by Gov. Roy Cooper will allow more fans to attend outdoor events, including high school sports.

The order increases capacity at outdoor events to 50 percent, up from 30 percent, and there is no cap.

The order is effective at 5 p.m. on Friday, meaning more fans can attend local prep football varsity games.

On Friday, home games for South Fork 2A games are at East Lincoln, North Lincoln and West Lincoln in the South Fork 2A.

Draughn, East Burke, West Caldwell and West Iredell have home games on Friday in the Northwestern Foothills 2A.

In the Northwestern 3A-4A on Friday, games are at Hickory, McDowell and St. Stephens and Freedom has a non-league game at Asheville.

Fans should continue to contact the home schools for more specifics on ticket purchases and other COVID-19 regulations that will be followed.
