Hickory High, which won a Northwestern 3A-4A boys’ soccer championship by three games over the next closest competitors, won three of the conference’s top awards in voting by league head coaches.
The Red Tornadoes’ Santiago Betancourt was selected the conference’s Player of the Year, teammate Brayden Rowland won Offensive Player of the Year, and head coach Brian Jillings shared Coach of the Year with Elliott Bridges of South Caldwell.
Daniel Hart of South Caldwell was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
Hickory finished 13-1-0 to win another league title with Watauga, South Caldwell and St. Stephens all tying for second place at 9-4-1.
The Red Tornadoes led All-Northwestern 3A-4A with 10 picks.
