East Lincoln High wrapped up at least a share of the South Fork 2A boys’ soccer title on Monday night and plays for the title on Tuesday night at home.

The Mustangs downed West Lincoln 9-0 on the road, improving to 13-0-0 in the conference, and they have moved up their regular-season finale against second-place Newton-Conover to Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Denver, N.C.

If East Lincoln (21-0 overall) wins, it takes an outright league title. If Newton-Conover wins, the Mustangs and Red Devils share the crown.

In the win at West Lincoln, Logan Gilley led East Lincoln with three goals and Evan Montanari had two assists.

Also scoring goals for the Mustangs were Noah Graden, Joey Benson, Carlos Hueck, Chase Gilley, Montanari and Luke Felts.

Graden, Benson, Logan Gilley, Pearson Cunningham, Blake Swanson and Caleb Anderson each added an assist for East Lincoln.

Will White and Matt Kosmala were in goal for a shutout, the Mustangs’ seventh in league play this season.

South Fork 2A matches moved up

South Fork 2A matches also moved up from Wednesday to Tuesday include Bandys at North Lincoln at 6 p.m. and Lincolnton at Maiden at 5 p.m.

Hickory 5, Alexander Central 0

Carter Holt’s two goals led the Red Tornadoes past the Cougars in Taylorsville, leaving Hickory tied with South Caldwell for second place (Spartans 7, St. Stephens 0 in Hudson).

Santi Agreda, Jacob Nance and Jose Vallecillos also had one goal for Hickory, 8-3-0 in the conference.

Patrick Cecatto had three assists and Vallecillos and Aydan Kelly added one for Hickory.

Peyton Winkler had six saves and Mackenzie Tonks added two for the Red Tornadoes, 14-5-3 overall.

Hickory has moved up its final regular-season match against visiting St. Stephens from Wednesday to Tuesday at 6 p.m.

— South Caldwell’s conference match scheduled Wednesday at Alexander Central will now also be played on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Northwestern Foothills 2A matches moved up

Draughn will play at Hibriten (6 p.m.) and East Burke visits Bunker Hill (6:30 p.m.) on Tuesday in Northwestern Foothills 2A matches moved up by one night.

GIRLS GOLF

Newton-Conover’s Lamp tied for fifth in 1A/2A

Newton-Conover’s Camyrn Lamp shares fifth place after one round of the state 1A/2A girls’ golf championships on Monday at Longleaf Golf and Family Club in Southern Pines.

She shot a 7-over par 79 and is tied with Katelyn Griggs of Gray Stone Day.

Katherine Schuster of First Flight is the leader at 74 heading into Tuesday’s final round.

West Lincoln, which qualified as a team, is tied for fifth place with Avery County at 288, with Mount Pleasant and Oak Grove tied for the lead at 263.

Other first-round scores for area golfers: Georgia Chapman (Lake Norman Charter) 86; Sophia Laliberte (East Lincoln) 89; Reese Coltran (West Lincoln) 92; Tess Palmer (Lake Norman Charter) 93; Laycee Hoffman (West Lincoln) 95; Sondra Unon (Newton-Conover) 97; Rae Watson (West Lincoln) 101; Angela Jeffords (Lincoln Charter ) 104.

Patriots’ Bock shares fourth in 3A

Albany Bock of Freedom shot a first-round 79, 7-over par at Foxfire Resort and Golf and is tied fourth fourth in the state 3A tournament.

Bock shares fourth with four others golfers, and Elizabeth Lohabuer of Cox Mill (73) tops the leaderboard.

The other area golfer in the 3A event is Freedom’s Christina Fisher, who is 17th after a round of 84.

The final round is Tuesday and Cox Mill (237) leads Rockingham County by three strokes.

VARSITY FOOTBALL

Advance tickets available for N-C at Maiden

Advance tickets go on sale Tuesday at noon for Friday night’s Newton-Conover at Maiden varsity football game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $6 and available at both schools from Tuesday at noon until noon on Friday.

JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL

Bandys game now Wednesday

Bandys’ junior varsity football game scheduled Thursday at home against Lake Norman Charter will be played Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Bandys (8-0, 5-0) can clinch at least a share of the South Fork 2A title by winning or if Lincolnton defeats North Lincoln on Thursday night at Lincolnton.

If Bandys and North Lincoln both win, the league title will be on the line on Nov. 7 when Bandys visits North Lincoln.
